Après un été riche en évènements musicaux de toute sorte, c'est déjà le retour des vacances... époque qu'a choisi le St Prex Classics pour accueillir son public au bord du lac Léman.

Ce festival qui réunit Musique, Danse et Voix en est à sa 7è édition. L’ADN du St Prex Classics est d’innover, de sortir les artistes de leur zone de confort et surtout d’essayer de proposer au travers des performances du festival des programmes nouveaux. Avec une programmation de haut-vol, Nigel Kennedy, Murray Perahia, Michel Legrand, Natalie Dessay, le festival inaugure cette année sa nouvelle infrastructure scénique « Luna », développée en collaboration avec l’EPFL. Cette scène couverte a été imaginée comme une extension contemporaine du Vieux Bourg de Saint-Prex et permet de profiter d’un cadre somptueux dans les meilleures conditions.

L’une des soirées de cette 7è édition sera consacrée au violoniste hongrois Roby Lakatos. Le côté Jazz de cet inventeur de plusieurs techniques de violon va émerveiller le public habitué des grandes soirées du Montreux Jazz et n’est pas passé inaperçu auprès de Claude Nobs. Ce grand artiste pourrait d’ailleurs être « a good fit » au Montreux Jazz.

Roby Lakatos sera sur scène le samedi 25 août à 20h45 avec son ensemble composé de Lászlo Bóni, second violin, Jeno Lisztes, cymbalon, Laszlo Balogh, guitare, Robert Fehér, contrebasse et Frantisek Janoska, piano. Ces musiciens se produiront dans un programme éclectique qui verra se rencontrer le jazz et le classique autour de mélodies tziganes. Né en 1965 au sein d’une famille légendaire de violonistes tziganes, celui que l’on surnomme « The Devil’s Fiddler » parcourt le monde entier invité dans les principales salles de spectacles et des plus prestigieux festivals. Partenaire des grands noms de l’actualité tels que Vengerov, Grapelli, Repin, Roby Lakatos est sacré en 2004, parmi les plus grands violonistes du monde, « Genius of the Violin » lors du fameux concert avec le London Symphony Orchestra.

Roby Lakatos at the St Prex Classics: classical and jazz in the swing

After a summer rich in musical events of all kinds, the holiday season is ending, which is the moment that the St Prex Classics chooses to welcome its public to the shores of lake Léman.

It will be the seventh edition of a festival that combines music, dance and song. It is part of the DNA of the St Prex Classics to innovate, to push performers out of their comfort zone and, above all, to try to offer new ways of performing. In addition to its high quality programme, which includes Nigel Kennedy, Murray Perahia, Michel Legrand and Natalie Dessay, the festival this year inaugurates a new stage, the “Luna”, developed in collaboration with the EPFL. The covered stage was conceived as a modern extension of the Vieux Bourg of Saint-Prex and allows this exceptional setting to be enjoyed in the best possible conditions.

One of the soirées of the 7th edition will be dedicated to the Hungarian violinist Roby Lakatos. The jazz side of this inventor of many violin techniques will dazzle audiences accustomed to great nights at the Montreux Jazz Festival, and Claude Nobs has taken note. This great artist would be “a good fit” at Montreux.

Roby Lakatos will take the stage on August 25 at 20.45 with his ensemble, made up of Lászlo Bóni, on second violin, Jeno Lisztes, cimbalom, Laszlo Balogh, guitar, Robert Fehér, double bass and Frantisek Janoska, piano. They will offer an eclectic programme in which jazz and classical music will come together in gypsy melodies. Born in 1965 into a legendary family of gypsy violinists, Roby Lakatos, known as the “Devil’s Fiddler”, has travelled the world playing at the leading concert halls and most prestigious festivals. He has performed with some of the great names, including Vengerov, Grapelli and Repin. In 2004 he performed to great acclaim at the London Symphony Orchestra’s “Genius of the Violin” festival.
