At the end of the International Jazz Festivals Organization meeting on 25 October in New York, Claude Nobs and Michaela Maiterth - Montreux Jazz Festival, Artistic Coordination - have organized a dinner for twenty of their best East Side music producers friends. All of them had a good time at the italian Restaurant Caravagio and appreciated the initiative of the two fellows.
On the picture, a fine band of these famous representatives: on the left behind Pat Rains - director of his own label PRA Records who produces Al Jarreau, David Sanborn, Joe Sample, Marcus Miller… in front of him on the left, Nile Rodgers - a highly accomplished producer too (Madonna, David Bowie, Diana Ross, Sister Sledge…), founder and guitarist of the band Chic - which Freak Out evening this summer at the Festival has been something to be remembered. On his right Tommy LiPuma - who produced among others, George Benson, Dr. John, Barbara Streisand, Miles Davis, Anita Baker, Sir Paul McCartney… - invited to celebrate his 75th anniversary last year at the Festival during a prestigious gala evening. In the middle, Claude Nobs - director and founder of the Montreux Jazz Festival, George Wein - founder of the most famous jazz festival in the United States, Newport Jazz Festival, Seymour Stein - Warner Bros vice-president, co-founder of Sire Records founded in 1966, revealer of talents as The Ramones, Talking Heads, The Pretenders, Madonna, Depeche Mode… and finally Tom Silverman - founder and CEO of the label Tommy Boy Records and Tommy Boy Films - who set up, in 2011 at the Montreux Jazz Festival the evening: The History of hip hop - Tommy Boy 30th Anniversary concert.
